Delete your account

This page explains how to delete your Briefly Daily AI account, what is removed when you do, and the small amount we are legally required to keep. You can do it yourself in a couple of clicks, signed in or not.

How to request deletion

Do it now, yourself

The button below opens your account controls, where you can pause your briefings, cancel a subscription, or delete the account outright. If you are signed in, it knows who you are and there is nothing further to confirm.

Delete your account now

Or from any briefing, open the most recent briefing we sent you and use the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom. Choose “Delete my account” and confirm.

What deleting removes

Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. If you want to use Briefly Daily AI again afterwards, you will need to sign up as a new user.

Your briefings stop straight away. Nothing further is sent to you.
Your name and email address are anonymised in our database, replaced with a non-reversible token. They are also removed from the sign-in record.
Your Google or Microsoft connection is ended. The stored access and refresh tokens are destroyed, so we can no longer reach your mail or calendar. Google access is also revoked at Google. Microsoft gives us no way to revoke from our side, so you can remove Briefly Daily from your Microsoft account's app permissions as well.
Your preferences are cleared — delivery times, schedule, country and post code.
Any paid subscription is cancelled.
Your address is added to our do-not-contact list. We keep a one-way hash of it for matching, and an encrypted copy that only our servers can decrypt, used solely to identify an account in a billing dispute. If you sign up again later, you come off the list.

We never retain the contents of your email or calendar. Those are read to build each briefing and are not stored at any point, so there is nothing of that kind to delete.

What we have to keep, and for how long

Billing records only. If you ever paid us, Australian tax law requires us to keep the commercial record of that transaction — the invoice history held by our payment processor, Stripe, and the references linking it to your former account. We keep nothing else.

Those records are destroyed seven years after your account is deleted. If you never paid us, there is nothing to retain.
